Numerous scientific studies have shown that IVF acupuncture can increase rates of conception and live birth by as much as 60% in some cases.

Have you and your partner decided to move forward with an In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) or Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) cycle and want to do everything that you can to ensure success? As you may already know, these procedures can be complex as well as stressful. Once the cycle is underway, so much of the process is out of your control and in the hands of your Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) and their team. You might feel helpless and wish that there was more that you could do to ensure a successful outcome. At Balance Acupuncture and Natural Medicine we want you to play an active part in your IVF process. As specialists in IVF acupuncture, we understand the complexity of the IVF procedure and work to enhance what your Reproductive Endocrinologist is doing at every stage of the process. We believe that your body’s ability to respond to the various phases of the IVF process is strongly affected by your overall health and well being. A healthy response to the drugs, good egg quality and a fertile and receptive uterine lining are all essential for success. A healthy, thriving body and a calm, happy mind naturally produce a more fertile environment for life to take root.

“Take the time to prepare your body so that your chances of a successful outcome are optimized.”

The benefits of our IVF/IUI Preparation Program:

1. We prepare your body for the process.

Chinese medicine is known to increase blood flow, balance immune function and calm the central nervous system. Our acupuncture protocols along with any herbal or nutritional supplementation (done before, not during your injection cycle) are designed to gently guide your body into a state of optimal response and receptivity.

2. Reduction of side effects from medications.

Many of our patients who have done previous cycles report that they have significantly less bloating and fatigue as well as fewer headaches and better moods during the cycles where they incorporate acupuncture into their process.

3. Personalized coaching and support.

In addition to acupuncture we provide our patients going through IVF/IUI treatment with individualized coaching and support in regards to nutrition, mind/body practices and other helpful techniques. It is our goal for you to have the most successful cycle possible and we support you with everything that we’ve got.

How does Chinese medicine help with IVF/IUI?

Acupuncture helps to strongly direct blood flow to the reproductive organs as well as to relax your your mind and place your body into a deep state of healing. Acupuncture treatment before and after embryo transfer is thought to relax the uterus minimizing uterine movement and aiding the process of implantation.

What qualifies you as a specialist?

Our founder and clinical director, Scot Taylor, has been specializing in Women’s Health and Fertility for more than 15 years and has been a member of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) since 2010. All of the practitioner’s at Balance Acupuncture and Natural Medicine continually hone their skills in reproductive medicine to ensure that you receive the absolute best care available.

How much time do I need to prepare?

Chinese medicine works by preparing your body for the upcoming IVF/IUI cycle, so the sooner you can get started the better. However, since some of the mechanisms of acupuncture are helpful even on the day of transfer it is never too late to get started.

In general, the more proactive you are the better the results so the majority of our patients start coming for treatment 8-12 weeks prior to their procedure.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people are surprised and relieved to learn that acupuncture needles are extremely thin and completely unlike the hypodermic needles that they have experienced at their doctor’s office. Acupuncturists can attain a high level of skill in gently placing these tiny needles and often the insertion is barely perceptible. Once the needle is inserted there may be a mild sensation of heaviness, achiness or tingling in the area of insertion. This is normal and therapeutically beneficial.
